Yes, of course. Many of our students enroll in the Lotus Pond’s 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training Programs unsure of whether or not they will teach. There are countless ways to “teach” yoga. Numerous graduates go on to teach yoga classes, and others go on to teach one-on-one yoga sessions with individual students. All of our graduates go on to transform the world by shining their bright yoga lights in new ways.
Most of our students decide to make monthly payments via automatic withdrawal from their checking account (ACH). You will not be allowed to continue participating in the program if you fail to meet your payment obligations.
The full $350 deposit is due upon registration and is required to reserve a spot on our roster. Applying and paying the deposit will secure any current early bird discount.
Is there credit for training completed outside of The Lotus Pond Center for Yoga and Health?
The Lotus Pond offers a curriculum that is predefined and comprehensive: it needs to be completed in its entirety here at the Lotus Pond. Exceptions may be made on an individual basis if the student studies with one of our lead teachers outside of the Lotus Pond. Any training taken outside of the Lotus Pond must be pre-approved by the YTT program director.
What are the 200-hour attendance and class make-up policies?
100% attendance is required for all sessions, including the on-time arrival to classes. If you need to miss a session, prior arrangements must be made with your teacher or program coordinator.
You can attend the days you missed in an upcoming training of the same format in another Lotus Pond training, free of additional class training charge. You have one year from your program end date to complete your make up classes.
Please note that if you miss over 18 hours, you will not pass the program and will be required to pay in full to retake the program.
How much time will I need to study outside of the program schedule?
The time spent on the readings, assignments, and teach-back preparation vary based on the individual, but the average total is anywhere between 15-20 hours. Upon registration you will receive your two books, The Wisdom of Yoga & The Bhagavad Gita, throughout the 6-month program.
Can I invite friends and family to graduation?
Yes! We want you to share your joyous moment with people who love and support you.
We have graduated hundreds of students between the ages of 18-80! The minimum age requirement is 18, and there is no maximum limit, as yoga is not influenced by age, gender, or religion. Regardless of your age and even past yoga experience, we start off covering the basics of alignment and anatomy so we can build off a solid foundation with sequencing and adjustments. Our graduates have come from all over the world, and it is not unusual to have a person in class with English as their second language.
Trainings will have anywhere from 15 to 25 students in them. Many of our programs fill up, so don’t wait too long to enroll!
As long as you have approval from your doctor, we welcome you to apply. We have graduated many pregnant moms.
Yoga Alliance is the largest nonprofit association representing the yoga community. Their mission is to promote and support the integrity and diversity of the teaching of yoga. Visit for more information. Upon completion of the program, which entails having 100% participation, completing all homework, and attending to all financial obligations, you will receive the appropriate paperwork to apply with Yoga Alliance.
Yes, in addition to the required reading (see next question), there are three written assignments. If you miss a required session, you will have a make-up assignment to complete. All homework details will be clearly explained during the Introductory Weekend.
The following books are required reading and are provided to you as part of your paid tuition:
1. The Bhagavad Gita, Stephen Mitchell translation
2. The Wisdom of Yoga, Stephen Cope
3. Yoga Toolbox for Teachers and Students, Joseph and Lilian Le Page
If your dream is to teach, we believe there are opportunities out there for you! Many students find teaching prospects even before they complete our teacher training program. Lotus Pond graduates teach everywhere from yoga centers, hospitals, schools, and churches to private businesses and homes.
Not yet. Upon graduation day, The Lotus Pond Center for Yoga and Health will provide you with an Teaching Certificate (provided all homework and finances are completed). Then you will upload your Lotus Pond certificate to Yoga Alliance’s website and pay a membership fee to obtain your YA certification. We discuss Yoga Alliance (business and teaching as well) in an in-depth manner during the program so that you will be completely prepared to understand the process.
